2009 season
Wed March 4th home meet:
It was a great start to the season. The girls team placed 1st and the boys placed 2nd. We had some great performances.
Sat March 7 Gatorade Inv: We had some great performances in our first invational of the season. On the boys side, Cameron Brooks won the varsity 100 in a new school record 11.23 Jeff Marquez placed 2nd in the varsity 200 in a new school record 22.79 Paul Smith placed 4th in the Elite 2 mile in a new school record 10:00.85 Andrew McDonald won the Fresh/Soph high jump in a new freshman record 5'8" Brian McBride placed 2nd in the elite high jump in a new school record 6'4"
Girls: Megan Fah placed 4th in the elite pole vault with a new school record 10'00" Maddie Sheahan won the girls fresh/soph 800 in a time of 2:37.16 megan Mullings won the varsity 100 hurdles in a time of 16.95 Tiea O'Neil placed 2nd in the varsity shot put with a toss of 31'4.5"
Wed Mar 11th @ Verrado The athletes competed against Verrado and Lake Havasu. We had some great performances. Everyone continues to improve.
Fri Mar 13th @GCC Gaucho Relays The meet started off with a scare. Bennet Martinez fell during the steeplechase and was taken to the hospital. He was fine. Bennet even came back to the meet to cheer on his teammates. The girls team won the meet placing in several events. They won the 4 x 800, 4 x 100, Sprint Medley, and 4 x 400. Individually, Rachel Gress, Sarah Glemba, and Christina Mitchell went 1, 2, 3, respectively, in the Freshmen/Sophmore 100. Stephanie Croker won the Freshmen/Sophmore 800. Dani Hunt and Maddie Sheahan went 1-2 in the 800. The boys placed seventh. They placed second in the 4 x 100 and the sprint medley. Connor Vincent won the Freshmen/Sophmore 110 Hurdles, and Cameron Brooks placed second in the 100.
Wed March 25 @ Home We had two school records broken. Tyler Rodgers pole vaulted 12'6" and Ashley Wittke high jumped 5'2". Congrats to these two athletes.
Fri and Sat @ Chandler Invitational PR's and school records dropped this weekend at the meet this weekend. Cameron Brooks broke his 100m mark with a time of 11.16. Megan Fah broke her pole vault record 10'6" Tyler Rodgers broke his pole vault record 13'00". The biggest mark of the day came in the boys high jump. Bryan McBride shattered the high jump record when he jumped 6'8". This is the highest jump in the state this year. Great job to all of our athletes.
Arcadia Inv. CA
Bryan McBride placed 5th in the main high jump event. He cleared 6'7. The girls 4x8 ran their fastest time of the season with a 10:00.40. The team was Gloria Tello,Kailey Rumbo, Maddy Shehan and Dani Hunt. Megan Fah cleared 9'7 in the pole vault.
Westside Inv.
The teams did very well on Friday night. The girls placed 4th and the boys placed 9th out of 32 teams. The athletes are getting ready for the championship part of the season. Region and State will take place in May.
REGION CHAMPIONSHIPS
The girls repeated as team champions. Individual champions were 4x800 relay Kailey Rumbo, Maddy Sheahan,Kaitlin Hurley and Dani Hunt, 400 meters Gloria Tello, 1600 Dani Hunt,Long Jump Devin Molinar, Pole Vault Megan Fah
The boys placed 2nd in the team score. Individual champions were 800,1600,3200 Paul Smith, 400 meters Jeff Marquez, High Jump Bryan Mcbride, Pole Vault Tyler Rodgers.
The athletes did a great job. 17 girls and 9 boys qualified for State. I am very proud of them.
State Championship:
The boys and girls finished the season strong. Bryan McBride was the state champion in the high jump 6'8", Gloria Tello was the state runner up in the 800 2:19 and Gloria Tello,Kailey Rumbo,Maddy Sheahan, and Dani Hunt state runner up in the 4x800 relay 9:48. The girls placed 12th and the boys placed 20th.
2008 season
STATE CHAMPIONSHIP REVIEW
The track and field team finished the season on Saturday with some great performances. On the boys side, the 4x800 relay placed 8th(Marquez,Roush,Maifield,Smith) Chris Tomas placed 7th in the high jump 4x100 relay(Brooks,Marquez,Ellis,West) and Jeff Marquez placed 3rd in the 400.
The girls team placed 4th as a team.The 4x100 relay placed 8th (Church,Tello,Wittke,Woods)Dani Hunt placed 8th in the 800 Taylor Woods placed 6th in the 100 and 4th in the 200 Megan Fah placed 5th in the pole vault Tiea O'Neil placed 6th in the shot put and the 4x800 relay (Hunt,Rumbo,Brist,Prescott)
Lindsay Prescott finished her high school career with 3 state titles. She won the 800,1600 and 3200. She finishes with 9 state titles in cross country and track.

Girls Team Region Champions
The girls scored 191 points to win the meet by 74 points. The team scored in 16 of the 17 events. It was a true team effort.
Region Champs in the individual events were
Mimi Nielsen, Discus; Lindsay Prescott, mile and 800; Mckenzie Brist, Dani Hunt, Maddie Sheahan, and Lindsay Prescott, 4x800 Relay.
Senior Lindsay Prescott finished her region career with 15 region titles. We have 15 girls moving on to State.
Boys Team 3rd at Region
The boys scored 95 points and had 3 region champions. The 4x100 relay Cameron Brooks,Jeff Marquez,Justin Ellis and Eric West 110 hurdles Justin Ellis and 400 Jeff Marquez. The boys will have 10 athletes competing at state.
Championship Season Begins
The Western Sky Region Meet begins on Wednesday April 30 and continues on Friday May 2. The meet is being held at Greenway High School. The meet starts at 4:30 on Wed and 5:30 on Fri.
West Valley Inv./Freshman Showcase
The Eagles team was split this past weekend. Our upper classman competed at Deer Valley High School. Lindsay Prescott won the mile in 5:03. Gloria Tello placed 4th in the 400 in 61.02 breaking the school record. Jeff Marquez won the 400 in the time of 49.65.
Our Freshman competed in the Freshman Showcase. Mckenzie Brist placed 3rd in the 1600 (5:27) and 4th in the 800 (2:30) Maddie Sheahan placed 6th (2:30). Taylor Woods placed in the top 5 in the 100 and 200. Our 4x1 girls placed 3rd Taylor Woods,Rachel Gress,Ana White, and Alisha Starling. Ben Sherman ran his best time of the year in the 1600 (5:01) and the 3200 10:56.
Arcadia Inv. Arcadia,CA
This was our third year in a row attending this national meet in California. Our girls 4 x 800 Dani Hunt,Kailey Rumbo,Mckenzie Brist and Lindsay Prescott ran a season best 9:44 and placed 5th. This time leads 4A1 and is third in the entire state. Lindsay ran in the invitational 2 mile. It was the fastest 2 mile race in the history of the meet. She broke her school record with a pr of 10:45.15. Jeff Marquez his season best in the 400 with a 50.35. The team will compete this Friday at Deer Valley in the West Valley Inv. and the Freshman will compete on Saturday in the Freshman Showcase at Desert Vista.
Scotsdale Distance Classic
The distance crew from the track and field team participated in a distance only meet on Friday. The Scotsdale Distance Classic was held at Saguaro High School. Our athletes had a great meet. The boys won the 4x 800 relay Hunter Eisenhauer,Mitch Roush,Paul Smith and Jeff Marquez. Bennet Martinez ran the mile in 4:53(new junior record) and Paul Smith broke the school record for the 2 mile. He ran it in 10:11. Jeff Marquez ran the 800 2:01. The girls had a great night as well. Lindsay Prescott won the mile in 5:06 and Kailey Rumbo ran 5:18. They both qualified for state. Dani Hunt and Mckenzie Brist went 2nd and 4th in the 800 running 2:22 and 2:23. Mckenzie broke the freshman record. The 2 mile girls did a awesome job. Renee Peck ran 12:18. Brooke Warren and Ashley King ran their fastest time for this distance 13:11 and 13:34.
Chandler Inv
The teams competed at the 68th Annual Chandler Rotary meet on Friday and Saturday. They had some great performances. The girls 4 x800 relay placed 2nd. The team of Dani Hunt, Mckenzie Brist, Maddie Sheehan and Kailey Rumbo ran 9:59. Lindsay Prescott placed 3rd in the 2 mile. Her time of 10:50 was the 4th fastest time in the history of the meet. Taylor Woods bettered her Freshman record in the 200 and Tia O'Neil PR'd in the shot put. Gloria Tello broke the school record in the 300 hurdles running 50 sec and Kayla McClain pr'd in 51.
On the boys side, Paul Smith broke the school record for the mile. he ran 4:36. Jeff Marquez made the finals for the 400 running another 50. this season. Justin Ellis ran two great hurdle races and Chris Tomas jumped 6'2" in the high jump.
Next up for the team will be a home meet this Wednesday April 2.
North Canyon Inv March 8
We had some great performances this past weeken. The girls team placed 3rd and the boys team placed 4th. Cameron Brooks made the 100 finals and broke the school record. He ran 11.50. Paul Smith ran 4:42 for 1600 and Bennet Martinez broke 5:00 running 4:58. Taylor Woods had a great day. She made the finals in the 100,200 and 4x100. The 4x 800 girls ( Dani Hunt,Kailey Rumbo,Mckenzie Brist and Lindsay Prescott) placed 1st with the fastest time in the state 9:47. It was a great meet for all of our athletes.

THE SEASON BEGINS!!!!
The track and field team started their season this past week. On Thursday, both teams won the meet against Dyesart,Copper Canyon and Camelback. On Friday, they competed at the Paradise Valley Relays. The boys team placed 4th and the girls team placed 1st. The boys 4x200 and 4x800 relay teams took 1st and 4x100 took 2nd. Chris Tomas broke the school record in the high jump and qualified for state with a jump of 6ft 3in. The girls 4x800, 4x1600, distance medley,triple jump,shot, and discus teams placed 1st and the shuttle hurdle relay placed 2nd. The distance medley team broke the meet record held by the O'Connor team from last year. Dani Hunt 800 Kailey Rumbo 1600 McKenzie Brist 800 and Lindsay Prescott 3200. Good luck to the teams this week at Verado on Wednesday and North Canyon Inv on Saturday.

Track 07
Girls compete at Nike Outdoor National Meet in Greensboro,NC
Dani Hunt,Camille Olson,Aleina Eisenhauer, and Lindsay Prescott finished the 2007 track season at the Nike Outdoor National meet. They ran the 4x800 relay and placed 13th. They ran 9:21 which is the third fastest time in Arizona history. They came back the next morning and ran the 4xmile relay. They placed 3rd and ran 20:56. The girls were awarded All American honors for this finish. Camille and Aleina finished their high school career by running the open mile race. Camille ran 5:00 and Aleina ran 5:06. Good luck to Camille and Aleina as they move on to Division I athletics.

Day two even better
The athletes did a great job on the second day of state. We had a state champion. Brandon Townsend won the discus. Jeff Marquez was runner up in the 400 Lindsay Prescott was runner up in the 1600 and 800 and Kandyce Pierce was runner up in the long jump. The boys team placed 9th. The girls team was runner up with 90 points. It was a great finish to our season. We have several athletes competing in some post season meets. We will have 8 athletes participate in the Meet of Champions at O'Connor. 6 athletes are going to the Great Southwest meet in NM. The biggest competition will be the Nike Outdoor Nationals in North Carolina. Camille Olson, Aleina Eisenhauer,Dani Hunt, and Lindsay Pescott will compete in 4x8,DMR, and 4xmile relays. Good luck to all of these athletes.
Day one State Meet
We had a very good first day. The girls 4x800 relay were state champions. They ran 9:45. Lindsay,Camille,Aleina, Kailey went 2,3,4,7 in the 3200. They scored 31 points to be in 1st after one day. Our 4x1 and 4x4 girls qualified for the finals. Kandyce Pierce 100 hur and Gloria Tello 400 qualified for the finals. The Boys did very well. Brandon Townsend took 3rd in the shot put. Chad Clark made the finals in the 110 and 300 hur. Jeff Marquez is in the 400 finals and the boys 4x4 relay made the finals. We are lookinf forward to a great day on Saturday.
15 boys and 20 girls qualify for state
This years squad of 35 athletes is a new record for our program. The coaching staff is very proud of our athletes. The state meet begins Thursday at Glendale CC and the second day is Saturday.
REGION MEET CONCLUDES WITH SEVERAL REGION CHAMPIONS
The boys and girls teams had their best performances in the region championship since our program started 5 years ago. The girls scored 179 points and placed 2nd. The boys scored 93.5 and placed 3rd. Here is a list of our region champions:

Lindsay Prescott was named region runner of the year. Lindsay has captured 11 region titles during her 3 years at O'Connor. (3 cross country,8 track)
The state meet will be held on Thursday and Saturday May 10 and 12 at Glendale CC.
Two girls are invited to the Penn Relays
It is very exciting to announce that Camille Olson and Lindsay Prescott have been invited to the Penn Relays. This event is the biggest track and field event in the US. They will run the invitational mile. It will be televised on NBC and dyestat.com I have participated in this event and I can tell you that the girls are in for an experience they will never forget. They will run on Thursday April 26 at 6:35pm. The meet is 4/25-4/29
Girls compete at Arcadia Inv in CA
The 4x1600 team of Camille Olson, Aleina Eisenhauer,Kailey Rumbo, amd Lindsay Prescott placed 3rd in this nationally ranked race. Camille and Lindsay ran in the seede section of the mile. Camille ran 5:01 and Lindsay ran 5:02. Aleina ran a pr in her race with a 5:06.
Brandon Towsend leads 5a2 Discus throwers
Brandon is having a breakout year in the throws. His toss of 167'5 is the farthest for div2 throwers. His goal is to win state and qualify for the Nike Outdoor Nationals. He will need to toss the discus 175'00". Stay tuned
